Riot Games in collaboration with We Are Royale
League of Legends: Hwei Trailer

Adapted to League of Legends’ art style, in both the visual quality of the animation, and the art direction of Ionia.

All the concepts of the props were created in 3D which allowed We Are Royale to physically 3D print and manufacture the design, which made an appearance at LoL Worlds 2023.
The high resolution matte paintings were created with proper overscan and layers, and a single matte painting was used in multiple shots.
We worked in close collaboration with We Are Royale on the champion trailer for Hwei. Our responsibilities included designing props, creating mood concepts, and illustrating matte paintings.
Matte Painting
These high resolution illustrations were used directly in the trailer. They were created with the intention of being used in multiple different shots. They also were properly overscanned to accommodate for camera movement, and included separate layers to comp in parallax or vfx.
Prop Design
The props followed the art direction of Ionia, and fit perfectly in the world of League of Legends. The designs were also created in 3D, allowing them to be 3D printed and manufactured in real life for LoL Worlds 2023.
