Ashes of Creation

  • Created the visual identity for each biome and showed how they could realistically transition between each other.

    Developed art direction for each race, focusing on shape language and materials to differentiate each culture.

  • All of the props were created using a hybrid approach, utilizing both 2D and 3D techniques. The majority of the design is created in 3D and the model is provided along with the concept images, providing the production artists with a valuable head start.

During his time at Intrepid Studios, our creative director Ricky Ho created concept art for the game Ashes of Creation. He explored the visuals of the environments and crafted props for the various different races in the game. His work on the biomes showed how each area could seamlessly transition into the next, which helped guide the environment and lighting teams. His work on the props is a clear example of how effective art direction can dictate and distinguish the visual identity of different cultures within a world.

Environments

The world spans many different biomes, from tabletop mountains, magical jungles, and volcanic lands.

Prop Design

Each race, elves, dwarves, and humans, had a unique culture that needed to be visually distinct from one another.
